Funeral services for Douglas L. "Doug" Callaway, 67, of Sugar Land, will be held at 10:00 A. M., Friday, June 5, 2009 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg with Rev. Jess Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Morton Cemetery in Richmond. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M., Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Doug was born in 1942 in Edna to Delbert Callaway and Margarite Curlee Callaway. He was a member of Morton Masonic Lodge #72 in Richmond, a member of the Shriners, Richmond Chapter and Council, Fort Bend Commandry, and the Houston Scottish Rite. He served as president of the board of the Sugar Land Credit Union and as the director of the Sugar Land Water Board #1. He proudly served his country in the National Guard. He recently retired from Imperial Sugar after 35 years of service. He enjoyed playing golf, his masonic work and spending time with his grandchildren who loving called him PawPaw. He passed away in June 2009 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Margarite Callaway. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Dolly Callaway; children, Nikki Callaway Reed and William Harvey Callaway and wife, Angi; brother, Monte Jess Callaway and wife Cathy; step-brothers, James Knudsen and wife, Patti and Tommy Knudsen and wife, Patsy; grandchildren, Tristyn Missy Reed, Trypp (Bubba) Reed, Christopher Choy and Christian Choy; along with numerous family and a multitude of friends. Pallbearers will include Bill Smith, Skip Tamsett, Chris Ryland, Brian Dodson, Bob Byrd, Joe Shepherd, Ernie Taylor and John Lawson. Memorial contributions may be made in Doug's name to The Scottish Rite Hospital for Crippled Children, 2222 Welborn, Dallas, Texas, 75219.
